Kvichak Marine - Kent Facility

In 2006 Kvichak Marine won the design competition for the new Coast Guard medium response boat and was awarded a $600 million dollar contract to build up to 250 Response Boats for the Coast Guard.  Production of the boat needed to commence in July of 2007 at a facility that had not been fully realized. Quantum Consulting Engineers was presented with the challenge of developing a design and construction sequence to transform an existing two-story concrete tilt-up light manufacturing facility into an open spaced one-story heavy manufacturing facility.

As a result of this efficient retrofit process, the owner was able to purchase a vacant, unusable space, and convert it into a state-of-the–art boat manufacturing facility in less than 9 months and meet their contractual obligations for one of the biggest Coast Guard contracts awarded to date.
