Western Washington University - Old Main Building
Bellingham, WA | Owner: Western Washington University | Completion Date:
Quantum principals John Riley and Jack Wiggins provided structural design for the renovation and seismic upgrade of this historic 1890's unreinforced masonry, four-story campus building. The southeast wing of Old Main building on the Western Washington University campus houses a theater, administrative offices, meeting rooms, and reception areas. The seismic upgrade consisted of adding shotcrete shear walls at the interior four corners of the structure for full-height, laterally isolating the grand stair structure from the building, and tying brick back to continuous steel ledger angles at each floor level. *John and Jack performed this project while employed with another firm.
